What is anorexia? It is a disorder which is related to eating. Some people starve themselves deliberately and this leads to anorexia. It normally starts at the beginning of puberty. People with this disorder suffer weight loss. Some lose up to 15 to 20 percent of the total body weight. They look skinny but think that they are overweight. The weight loss in the anorexic people is due to many reasons like over exercise, less intake of food and usage of laxatives and so on.
They are scared of getting fat and this fear makes them eat less. They believe that they are overweight even if they become extremely thin. It is mostly seen in higher societies and fields which require a thin body like dancing and modeling.
Some of the symptoms of anorexia are anxiety, weakness, brittle skin, loss of menstrual periods in women, shortness of breath and so on.
How to overcome anorexia:
Overcoming anorexia can require both medical and psychological treatment.
Accept the fact that your behavior towards eating is unhealthy and is dangerous to your health. Recognize your body’s needs and desires to eat properly. Don’t starve yourself even if you are hungry.
Set small goals and see that you accomplish them. This gives a great sense of satisfaction and you feel encouraged to do more.
Completely focus on the present and bury the past.
Do not compare yourself with others. Fill your mind with positive thoughts and stay happy.
If your mind is engaging in negative thoughts do not engage in them. Fill it with positive thoughts.
Treat yourself with good food and pamper yourself with great tasty lunches.
Enjoy yourself and engage your body in some activities which make you hungry and eat more.
Talk to your friends and ask for their cooperation. This goes a long way in finding courage to solve your problem.
Remember the fact that weight and physical appearance are not the only factors that make you great. There are a lot other factors that you can focus on. Stop focusing of physical attributes.
Completely relax and stay with a calm mind. Start meditating regularly with some breathing exercises. This helps a lot in weeding out all the negative thoughts and keeps you happy.
Say good bye to dieting. You don’t need that anymore. You can start feasting. You look good.
Stay away from tension and stress. They do not let you eat well or rest well.
